Hello from Joburg

Hi all,

I have been reading the forum for quite some time and thought that maybe I could also contribute to some of the fine discussions on here. I am a PADI Master Diver and IANTD Normoxic Trimix and have 217 dives to date. I dive with twin 15's with isolator manifold and in a drysuit when doing 'tech' dives.

Thanks for a great forum

John

Hope you have fun posting.

It will be interesting hearing about the SA dive scene.

Regards,
Midnight

Welcome John, Can you dive all year round in South Africa? When is the best time to go diving there?

Many restrictions are being put on us and we now need permits to dive. Many of the dive areas are now protected due to the abalone theft, which is being blamed on the divers so they (the authorities) are clamping down on the areas we can dive in. I do the wrecks so it doesn't really affect me much but with all the doom and gloom its fantastic.

We can dive all year round, the Cape region can get very chilly but up on the north east coast it drops to about 17 degrees in winter and goes to 27 up north in summer. Then there is Mozambique which you can dive all year every day (excluding typhoon season ).
