Question Is there a career in diving???????

I'm 19 years old and worked for 2years up until last October in a local dive shop. I loved the job but the money was terrible! I had to leave to get something that meant i could afford to live and dive (we all know diving isn't cheap).

What i want to know though is do i pack my job in as a well paid currency broker, which I don't really enjoy as is all office based, for a low paying job in the diving industry? If so what jobs are there in the diving industry that mean I can climb through the ranks, and are there there any that would eventually pay a near decent wage?

All thoughts welcome, I'm really looking for another angle.

P.S if anyone is looking for someone with half a brain to come and work for them, I have references and hungry sales mind, please get in contact.

No money in diving. If there was we'd all be at it. I've sent you a PM about sales though.

In diving jobs you don't climb through the ranks, you climb out of the water, and further from diving. If you want to dive for a living you stay relatively low in the food chain.

Digs.

its not so much in diving. I would be happy as a sales rep, or anything else. i think really when i posted this I knew what the answer was going to be just needed somebody to confirm it.

The PM you sent me Dig didn't say what it was doing? I am interested in looking though definitely send me some details.

I'll send another PM. But yes, there's plenty who will confirm it for you here. Some of whom have actually tried it for a while

I think the thing is that Diving will never make you city-boy rich. Well, not unless you happen to discover a massive sackload of gold. Or unless you work as a commie diver but even then the money's not great any more.

However, I dunno about you, but I'd rather be poor, but totally happy, than rich and sad.

Follow your heart - for it is only then you will know what makes you truly happy.

Would that be a North East based dive school or is there another doing it?

Ever met a rich ski instructor? It's very hard to make money doing what people love doing. You tend to get paid for doing what others cannot or don't want to do. In my experience, you can only get paid for what you can do WHILE you are diving.
