Hello from a newbie

Hi

Thought I'd introduce myself...I'm Jan. I've been scuba diving for 17 years, although I haven't dived for a while. I did quite a bit of UK until I went to the Maldives 6 years ago and was spoilt, now I've become a bit of a softie holiday diver .

I'm off to Cairns next week and hope to do some diving on the Barrier Reef and a dive off Frazer Island. Anyone have any advice on "must do" dives in that area?

I've been doing a photography course but haven't leared anything about underwater photography so will just have to point n click and hope for the best.

Actually, I'm struggling with the whole photography thing at the mo....supposed to present a portfolio of images next week but can't even fathom out how to send my images to ProAmImage.....tooooo technical!! If anyone has any advice, I'd be very grateful !

Jan

Hi Jan
Welcome to YD
Osprey Reef out in the Coral Sea is top notch diving but getting out there is v weather dependent. Cod hole is a goody for some pics of huge fish with divers.
As far as sending pics, if you have a lot to send I'd burn them to disc and send them by snail mail. Depending on what you are sending files/or the number of pics tend to get to big to send by email.

Hi Triplefin

Thanks for the welcome and advice. I will look up Osprey Reef.

As for photo's, I have to present a portfolio of 12 x A4 prints so will burn them to disc and send via snail mail as you suggest.

Jan

Yes my eyes have certianly been opened by some of the non diving threads! But I have never met a group of people so willing to go out of their way for others and I have met the best set of buddies too.
