KISS Questions

The more I look at the different rebreathers out there on the market, the more I lean towards the KISS. I do have a couple of questions though;

1)How are KISS users planning their deco, as the setpoint isn't *actually* static as PPO2 drops until a manual injection of O2, say every 15-20 mins or so, do you just plan for a slightly lower setpoint to be more conservtive, but if so how do you track your CNS?

2)What set point do people generally set the O2 flow for, I'd use 0.7 at the surface, and then push it up to 1.3 on the bottom and then 1.5 - 1.6 on deco, does this mean that you set the flow rate for approx 0.7 based on metabolic rate, and then inject O2 more often to reach the higher setpoint or is there a way of changing the flow rate during the dive?

Sorry if these seem like dumb questions.

Cheers

Rich

I don't dive a KISS, but one thing to understand is that the flow you set has nothing to do with the setpoint you want to run at, it's purely tuned into (just under) the metabolic rate. Whatever setpoint you run, with a constant metabolic rate the PO2 will drop at a uniform absolute rate wherever it started. The PO2 is a function of the FO2 in the loop at depth, and this has no effect on your metabolic rate. Therefore the "flow" is the same (ie. not changed) on the surface or at depth. If you get what I mean...

If I was running one, I'd have a mental "trigger" PO2 that I manually inject at, bringing it back up to my mental High SP. I would base the deco on the trigger PO2, and the CNS loading on my High SP.

As I said I don't dive one.
