Replacement KISS handset

Anyone feel like joining me in a project to see if these will work:

[Drool]

[/Drool]

What I'm aiming for is a Hammerhead secondary handset wired in to a replacement KISS kidney with a HUD/DIVA. The handset will show current and max depth, time and temperature along with the three PO2 readouts, single button calibration, wet switch etc etc.

If you end up getting rid of your existing handsets as a result, i'm first in the queue!

Smudger and Fin, IIRC were leaks through the trimming plug.
I had a very slight sewater leak in one of mine caused by dust/lint from the plastic thread. It's not stripped, but there seems to be some wear from removing the plug for trimming, so I've cut that down to a minimum.

Fortunatly, I managed to catch it, there was less than a drop of seawater in the handset, so I soaked it in fresh and than took a hairdrier to it.

I had a stripped thread on a trimming plug that I knew about when I bought the unit. It was fine for months.....until it eventually leaked . Replaced the case, salvaged the internals. Now looking for a replacement spare for my spares box.

Nat stripped the plug on hers, or the plastic was perished (?)

She's been diving with it like this all year!

Well...they better work () as my acrylic handsets are in the shop getting replaced with the shiny nickel plated aluminum ones at the moment.

And, wouldn't you know it, when adjusting one of the standard KISS handsets this past week the threads on one of them came right out when I removed the plug. I swear I didn't overtighten it. Nevertheless, it was basically stripped. I got the thread re-tapped to a 7/16" hp plug thread at a local machine shop for $15US and will re-install everything, hopefully uneventfully, for diving this weekend with no down time while I await the shiny handsets.

Reinstall of the re-tapped plastic case went okay (display still actually works). Had to solder for the first time
