| Smudger and Fin, IIRC were leaks through the trimming plug. I had a very slight sewater leak in one of mine caused by dust/lint from the plastic thread. It's not stripped, but there seems to be some wear from removing the plug for trimming, so I've cut that down to a minimum. Fortunatly, I managed to catch it, there was less than a drop of seawater in the handset, so I soaked it in fresh and than took a hairdrier to it. r P

And, wouldn't you know it, when adjusting one of the standard KISS handsets this past week the threads on one of them came right out when I removed the plug. I swear I didn't overtighten it. Nevertheless, it was basically stripped. I got the thread re-tapped to a 7/16" hp plug thread at a local machine shop for $15US and will re-install everything, hopefully uneventfully, for diving this weekend with no down time while I await the shiny handsets. |
