KISS me quick

Just a quick note, to let you know that last night I picked up my KISS. It's the classic version serial 018. Everything looks great.

Must not tinker - well too much. Shall strip and build over the next week and hopefully when i get back from KL again I can go and dive her.

Need to be nice to Girlfriend, she only went on holiday for 3 weeks and when she gets back next thursday, I've got a new love interest. To top it off she's going to love that I fly out on the sunday morning to KL.

Will post updates I'm sure on how i get on - just need to get a manual etc. Does anyone have the disc floating about that takes you through stripping & building that they can burn a copy for me.

Trying to get my buddy to view another for sale over the w.end ready for a trip in April to Lot.

I think secondhand they're around £2.5 to £3k, depending on condition.

Those that i've seen are usually advertised at £2500 +- a few hundred. It depends upon how old no of modifications, amount of extras and how quick the owner wants a sale.

My unit is one of the earlier models, not everyone thinks all the changes are for the best, but i guess that's the same with life.

I'm not selling mine yet! I only got it a week ago!

I'm always happy to talk diving though - so if you're going to be in Central London then give me a bell.

Price... It depends on a. how much of a bastard the person selling it is and b. how much of a bastard the person buying it is.

I got mine for £2k including flying to Larnaca and back to pick it up. Go figure whether (a) or (b) above applies I also got a very favourable exchange rate too as the owner wanted paid in US Dollars rather than Cypriot pounds. Also you save a fortune buying used because someone else has taken the hit on import taxes and costs plus you don't have to shell out £4-500 for a course either. Though the latter is probably a good idea though can't say for sure. As my user name says...

Mine was an oldie but not as old as 018 (052). From what I've seen of the new handsets I think I prefer the old ones. The oldies also have a maintenance free O2 valve, you shouldn't need to replace the seat in the old ones. OTOH the new ones have O2 injection on either side. The oldies have it on the left which I don't like as it is very busy (O2 valve, wing inflate & stages).

My thinking was this was probably a bonus once your used to the system, especially with hid and scooter on right hand.

What I don't like is that it is easy to grab the inflator when you want the valve and vice versa. With the old style stainless valves there is no mistaking the feel of it, it's heavy, very heavy. I wonder how the new moulded plastic ones feel, I'd be a bit worried about confusing two similar feeling plastic valves.
