I have the original Sherwood DSV. As for the 7l's, not all the dive sites I visit, have easy access to the water and require a carry, which is tiring on the back.

I'm getting one of my 4l ex fire service cleaned at the moment & I'll give these a try to see how they feel. Apparently the inporter of Heiser isn't getting another batch until June.

Anke, Are you able to shut off your piller valves in your current configuration, or do you not consider it nescessary?

Janos Did you get my pm? I think i sent it to you from the other site.

Hi Gareth
Go Dive have the Heiser Dumpy 3's for £89.99 plus shipping (at least they are still showing on their site)...I got a pair for my classic a few weeks ago & have found they trim out much better than long 3's with a dry suit (no extra lead needed). I also use a couple of ally 1.5's for shorter dives as I always have off board gas.
regards
Mike

Thanks mike, rang Go Dive this evening, they had two left. Had tried many other shops. Guess I was lucky to find what are probably the last two shells, until sea and sea inport more in June. Worked out in the order of £120 each with the handed valves.

Apparently I'll receive Thursday, so I can hopefully set them up for a dive maybe next tuesday.

Yes, I can reach the valves and do consider it a requirement. It is not as easy as when the valves are inverted, but suits me better with valves up.

I have fitting the tanks just high enough so the valves stick out above the breathing hoses. Also have angled the 7's slightly so the valve knobs face forwards and are thus easier to reach. To allow a quick shutdown of the O2 I have added a flowstop to the O2 add valve ( I also replaced the stainless braided O2 hoses with standard interstage hoses.).

Have fun

Anke

I've just put some 3s on mine (cheers John!) temporaroly to see how they work out. They're much better IMO than the ally 2s I had on there before (which were about the same size as the dumpy 3s) because they protect the hoses at the top much more, and they're narrower, fitting to the width of the case pretty much. The diameter also means they're flush with the unit pretty much, so I'm more square than W if you know what I mean.

Just if there's others thinking about tanks. I'm sure there's a load of threads on RBW about tank size but have your US/UK conversion tables handy, as a lot of guys on there are stateside.

Digs.
