Hoping to stop short of the slipway, as for you Phill, get down there and have a paddle with us, or at least lend me some jet fins to see if they are as good as my 'finweight system'.

| Well, various YD'ers made it down to Stoney today. WWD, Recurve and I met up, and were shortly joined for a hello by Richie and Alex, before they went off to sort their dives out. The three of us kitted up and dropped in at the slipway, and dropped down to 20 metres at the Commer Van. After a trundle out to the Stanegarth via the Wessex, we stopped there for a while. Gary (WWD) offered to make a pair to have a look in the hold, but both me and Phil wimped out at that one. Made our way back to the wall via the bus, which I've managed to miss all the times I have dived in Stoney Puddle. Came up the wall at the end of the anchor line, and thats where the fun started for me. All the way up from 20 metres to the cockpit I seemed to be fighting to maintain a normal ascent, so I headed straight over to the cockpit in case I needed to grab something! I was clearly underweighted and had to let myself surface, fortunately in a controlled manner rather than a runaway jobbie, so cue one missed safety stop, but thats why I always dive well within the tables, just in case something happens. Anyway, I could not get off the surface to let the other two know where I was, so I watched them looking around, until Phil looked up and I could signal OK to him. I'm trying to work out why it happenned (apart from being underweighted) as I have made about 5 or 6 dives with that configuration to the same depths and come up with the same air left in the tank each time, and it has not been a problem until I got to about 2 metres each time. Obviously time to add a bit more weight, and do some more shallow water testing. After a surface interval Phil and Gary decided to do a short second dive, which I declined, due to the fact that I was absolutely freezing my bits off, even with a thick drysuit. (Phil must be either hard as nails or completely nuts as he seemed fine in his semidry So for me, not a good days diving, but at least I got wet, and found something new to work on, and got myself out of a little problem in a controlled (ish) manner. And now I await SteveS to tell all, about his little chilly moment
