SS Sparta - Eastbourne Sat 12 Aug

I'm diving the SS Sparta off of Nauticat out of Eastbourne on Sat 12 Aug, ropes off at 1345.

She is an Armed Merchantman upright and quite intact in a max of 40m with the decks around 32m. I've not dived her before but apparently some nice swimthroughs She is 18 miles out so a very good chance of some quality viz

I'm looking at about an 80 min runtime with about 30 min of Deco.

Anyone fancy joining me

Looks like the venue has changed to The Ash, sunk in 2001 and in 40m

New Wreck

Different wreck, same plan

I booked on the Sparta as well, it's a pity it has changed, as it's a cracking wreck. I'll still be there though.

Hi Alan

Ahar is out with us as well on Sat.

Have you dived the Ash before?

I was looking forward to the Sparta, not so sure about the Ash, sounds a bit new (2001) for my taste.

No, I haven't dived the Ash. I did toy with changing to something else, as I think it's too modern to be interesting. You may have to give me a poke to wake me up!

We will see.

Yes, i doubt i would have booked on in the first place if it had been this one, don't sound too interesting:-

3/4 of the way down under "Dutch Aquamarine" even has a radar plot of the accident. Should be very intact though.

Sinking Details

Please bring me back the end of my reel line and my brass bolt snap - on the top rail above the bridge/accomodation area. Thank you.

Talking

Plus an anchor & shot line which had to be left when the fog closed in before the dive could happen shot & anchor belongs to Rib Inspiration from Eastbourne.
The wreck is very intact ,nothing left in the holds all derricks etc swept clean because of shipping .the only "interesting" bit is the stern with the bridge & living quarters .Dived it June 05 with Finless .If your at the stern the damage that sunk her is starboard & forward ,pretty unimpresive damage though .Some where in the living quarters is a life raft that has not been inflated ! one of our group was going to remove it & pull the cord from 40 metres
Bear in mind this is on the edge of the shipping lanes & there are some might big ships going through there ,decoing on a smb drifting isn't a good plan .
Depths last June (i think it was a low ) were 40m to the bottom of the hold ,appasrantly there is a scower (sp)one end or the other that gets to 46m ,the bridge & accomadation area rise to approx 26m so you can atleast work you way up on deco if the shot is at that end .
enjoy
