In my experience (which isn't that much) 4 factors affect shore diving and vis:
  • Tides. More water movement (spring tides) means worse vis.
  • Wind. Up to a week before can have an effect. If you can get wind coming off the land for a while before a dive, then this will help no end.
  • Rainfall. More run-off means worse vis. Obviously this will be site dependant
  • Diving with the Goat and his patented "vis detroyers" on the end of his legs

Diving off boats you can substitute algal blooms in March / April / May in place of the rainfall. The others still stand. Including the Goat. baaaaaaaaa.

For tides I use:
EasyTide - on-line tidal predictions from the UKHO

I must defend the Goat's honour with regards to his 'vis destroyers' he wasnt with me on Sunday unless he can mess the vis from manchester? He can't, can he or maybe he can?

There is a few of us going so one more would do no harm John. So you drive at similar speed as you dive then?

The other diver was JJones on YD (John). Good to catch up with everyone again its been a while since me and lisa have dived together. Hope you all appreciated our underwater dancing and signing.
Hope your 2nd dive was as much fun as the 1st one its been a few weeks since I managed a 50 + minute dive. Sadly my back is telling me how foolish I was to dive today, just glad it was on a single. Thanks Sean for being my kit bitch.
