Oh I see Ben,  you subscribe to the "Same ocean, same time" style of buddying

I have to confess to a very shallow 6m max shore dive with a buddy recently,  we both had ponies and agreed that if we lost each other (The vis was 1m or less in places ) we would try to find each other and if all else failed max time 45 minutes, meet on the shore.

Our other halfs were extremely impressed when we entered together and surfaced within a minute of each other after 45 minutes 4 metres apart.

We did not have the heart to tell them that we lost each other after 10 minutes and did not see each other for the rest of the dive

(First time I have lost a buddy - honest  )

Ben you'll fit in ok. Daz you ever thought about a rope.
I lost a buddy in France or more acurately he lost me. Adam & I were teamed but he had a slight prob on the surface so the guide told me to buddy with this French bloke and he'd sort Adam out. Down we go to the wrech holding onto the shot as it was a bit heavy current wise. Hit the bottom and agree to swim along the wreck, no lee to offer shelter though. So I let go and go backwards about 10m, him away into the distance never to be seen close by again. Him surface after a minute no chance, he could still see me about 45m away, then AJ turned up and we buddied. I asked him why he didnt hang around, gallic shrug. No answer really.
Matt

I thought my posts were bizarre.

Will have to fight for space with the tanks but I would think so.

Hi Ben!
Nice to see you back - how was it out there mate? God I bet it was hard dragging yourself out of bed each morning just to submerge in blue, clear warm waters eh??!! Hope you had agreat time. Whre's the report? You've been back nearly a week!! God man!! You piss off and leave us at the mercy of Jack Frost and God knows what else and then make us wait for your report!
Are you OK for 8/9 Mar then - Anglesey? I put your name down just in case all the places were snapped up before you got back. Keep an eye on Brens thread in Planned Trips for details.
See you soon - enjoy Stoney!
Cheers
John

Matt,

Great idea about the rope but some of the bastards I have dived with in the past would take great pleasure in tying it off to something and pissing off or they would tie a couple of kilos to the end. :fight:

Also if you had met some of my mates you would understand why losing them is no real loss,  I sometimes think the risks increase the longer they stay with me :maniac:

I am a firm believer in self sufficiency, jeez a buddy is a bonus,  not to mention someone to relive the dive with in the pub afterwards ;)

I think you should be fairly safe with me on Sunday though so I hope I can tag along with you and Adam.

Safe Diving all - See ya all on Sunday.

Daz

Nige

Are you still looking for some help with a dry suit orientation/course?  I'm diving at Stoney on Sunday and am looking forward to meeting up with the YDers.

Am a PADI OWSI and willing to move you along in that direction, should you wish.

Regardless, hope to be diving with you all on Sunday.

And another one joins the rabble,  Kev do you need any pointers so you can recognise us ?  Although judging by the descriptions I have seen on this thread it sounds like it would be pretty bloody difficult to miss us ;)
