O2 Anaysler.... Can someone help me out here..

Look here!

I would like to build me own analyser kit. However some of the items such as the electronic items i'm sure are available in Maplin or similar shops... i'm just not that hot on on this sort of thing.

if anyone could give me a dig out i'd be grateful.

Also this is a good way of getting an O2 anaylser for next to nothing!! Must only be about 50stg?

The DPM128 meters they use are a pain in the arse because you have to hack a bit off the board and then re-solder a new resistor, all little fiddly surface mount bits. The solder points are so small that the new joint is very weak. I've knackered three of them in my rebreather.

I use a different (and in my view) better design. PM your e-mail address to me and I'll send you a parts list and costs.

Not every panel meter is suited, I've wasted about £100 trying to get the right display. The ones I use are more expensive but worth it as the build is simpler and more reliable.

I'm currently working on a backlog of analysers for other YD-ers, if I've any spare I'll let you know, the other bits are stock that you can get anywhere but you need to get the right display and only a few are suitable.

If you're not confident though do you really want to trust your life on something like this??

Thanks for the link m8,

Realistically, the O2 anaylsers you buy in the shop have cost not much more that 100us to produce. You simply extra paying for nice packaging and a large profit margin.

If you put your kit through some good testing, ie. Air, a couple of different nitrox mixes and what not, then it should be as reliable as any market product.
