a good way of avoiding the efect caused by dissimilar metals would be to get some nice mild steel bands knocked up
all that lovely rust and you would look like a old hand.

It's not a good enough insulator to prevent the battery effect.

Funny, the paint I had on a set scraped off a bit and guess what? I had some corrosion underneath the bands!

I've seen and advert in one of the dive mags for Buddy, where the guy is carrying V shiny tanks. Do they sell stainless tanks? Wouldn't the cost be prohibitive?

(I have a feeling I'm going to get slated for this.)

Go to the Buddy site they have them on there...

Would it be prohibitive, no rust so how often would they need a visual/hydro/blast and paint. Thinner wall as they would be stronger, might be lighter, which wouldnt necesarily be a good thing.

The ones in the ad might be air brushed to look like that or maybe very polished ali?

Seriously? Unless it's chipped I just can't see a thick layer of paint being insufficient.

I might just have to borrow work's insulation tester for the weekend and find out for myself.

Regards,

Mark
