| Imported post Following Doms DIY Torch project, but using materials from work, I came up with the following: ![]() Had it down to 12M in Eccy Delph today, so far so good. Anyone got any ideas for routing the 'umbilical' cable...? The MK1 (see below) gets clipped to my BC, but the MKII is gonna have to go on the tank. btw, specs are: 1 or 2 2.1amp/hour lead acid batteries... 20w halogen spot (also can take 35w spot/flood lamps) toggle switch from maplins (!) polycarb tube with plastic endcaps... still trying to sort best battery option - original mk1 gave me about 55mins but i wanted more so made mk2. Tryed mk2 the other night with one charged battery and one dead battery and it gave me two hours!! More experimentation required... |

| Nice piece of work mate! Green. What experiences have you had with it since you made it and has it stood the test of time? Do you still use it? Update for the boards?

| Another one of my posts "bumped"...! I'll have to hand this over to digger now! I was never happy with the life of the batteries, so carried on using my kowalski... I donated the torch head & cable to digger, who i believe had it down to 40m off the south coast...! |

| Ah, while all you DIY torch gurus are all in one place... I'm working on one at the moment (thanks for the advice on your site dom) and have a couple of questions if you can spare a couple of minutes: 1. I've got a borosilicate lens from flashlightlens.com which is about 3mm thick, so with the original 2mm plastic lens in front and the bezel tightened down it seems to make a good seal with the original two maglite O-rings. Did either of you have any problems with this, or did you have to add an extra O-ring between the lens and the bulb, as some sites suggest? 2. I like your idea of using silicon to make a custom O-ring for the canister lid - have you had any problems with leaks through it since you wrote your site? Thanks guys, Rick. |
