| Imported post Dom your talk of lds and dive shows reminds me of when i first got into this dive stuff .I was visiting and browsing around his shop and got into a chat with another customer who mentioned the dive show. Now i have been to a few trade shows for my industry and thought it would be the same thing reps showing you prototypes, future development, exhibitions and all that stuff not a cheap fest of dive stalls. So i turn to the lds owner and says "you must know enough divers why don't you arrange a coach or somthing to get every one to the show it's got to be good for business"....err i didn't realise viens on the neck could get so big and i had to listen to him moaning about over heads and yada yada...the other guy sneaked out and i never saw him again. At that point i felt sorry for him but now knowing what i do now he gets a 12lt air fill every two weeks for the pool and if he's really lucky a snap bolt or two worth of business and no more, over time hes ripped me off on a few things because i didn't know better. "Scuba Regulators Maintenance & Repair" by Vance Harlow is avaliable in the uk from shop Dom i would be interested in the service manuals if you can dig them out. Regards, MAL..

| Imported post What spares are you after? I can get my hands on Apeks, Scubapro, Poseidon, Sherwood (cheap as), Mares (I think) and a few others. Oh, and Aqua-Lung are as easy as. It's all about who you know. You tell me what you need, and I'll try and get my hands on them. I will put a disclaimer on it, and you will find a way of signing it, as I'm not going to be responsible for anyone killing themselves. This isn't an open offer to all and sundry to get them 20 service kits etc., this is me doing a favour which will cost me in beer for a few mates. If your request is reasonable/possible, I'll do my best. If you're taking the proverbial, I'll take my proverbial off the market. Quickly, too. This does all depend on a mate coming through on a promise to give me as many parts as I want, and he has trouble with some makes from time to time and with certain models etc. but I can do my best. Daz, I owe you for the glass, so let me know what I'm looking for. |

| Imported post One other note. I remember someone mentioning getting o-rings from elsewhere that are the same size etc. That is dangerous. The materials may be wildly different, and are likely to have very different ratings. Don't use o-rings that are not designed for the job you're about to do. It could most likely go very wrong, and you'll be the one that cops it. If you're going to do this sort of thing, make sure you know a) what you're doing at least a little bit, and b) that you're the only one that can get hurt if you arse it all up. And I'd get a mate who really really knows his way around regs and so on to have a look at your first attempt, and designate you servie-worthy. That's about all that's going to happen on a technician course with the manufacturers, so you should at least be as skillful as your LDS to do this. Oh, and I don't service my own regs. I have access to the parts, but someone else does them. I know how regs work, but the guy who does them showed me things I never knew my regs could do only last week, so I'm not going to be doing it myself without some help. Of course, if you know a service technician who likes beer, you can make yourself a very popular apprentice... |

| Imported post That was me mentioning O-rings, and it's a good point - if you're going to order them online, don't just find somebody offering "o-rings" - find O-rings of the right sort. EPDM, Viton, whatever. Digger - I'd appreciate an Apeks second stage diaphragm, if you can get one, that's about the only part I don't have a spare for..

| Imported post P.S. Apeks documents for servicing the 1st and second stages, along with a worthwhile (but ten megabyte) course on Apeks servicing can be found at: http://diveweb.oneandoneis2.com/apeks

I've got SAP's catalogue in front of me, there's no gauge listed at £42. The IP gauge I ordered from them is £10.28 (plus another 6 or so for the adaptor) - are you sure you're looking at the right gauge? Actually, I should've received the gauge yesterday, that being when the parts I ordered were delivered. But the gauge and one of the adaptors I'd ordered weren't in there. They'd charged me for the gauge, but no sign on the invoice of the adaptor. That's what I get for ordering on a Friday afternoon, I suppose Gave them a ring this morning, they're sending both gauge and adaptor to me today first class, no extra charge - so I actually get the (£5) adaptor for free! THAT'S the attitude you want from a dive shop! Now, where'd you find this £40 ultrasonic bath..?

| Imported post SAP Catalogue Gauges test and check, found the other one (I think) looks exactly the same but without the associated metalwork. ? Can you PM me all the part numbers once you have everything up and running. Are you using the associated gubbins so it can just plug into a LP inflator hose ? Ultrasonic baths :- Bath And I think this one is slightly better Another bath ? HTH Daz

| Imported post Oh, THAT one! With you. Okay, the parts I ordered from SAP recently were: 1226 - 3-way adaptor block, ie three 1/4 ports 0465 - 1/4 blanking plug 3093 - the gauge 1269 - 1/8 to 1/4 so I can connect the gauge to the 3-way block 1273 - 1/4 to 9/16 - plugs into a DV hose The thing is, y'see, that you can run Air Tools like wrenches and drills off a 10bar supply of gas, and they use a 1/4 fitting. So what I was originally going to order was just the relevant adaptors to connect a 9/16 to a 1/4. But then I realised that I could also run the IP gauge off that same adaptor, so I ordered one of those as well. I was originally hoping that SAP made an adaptor to plug a 1/4 into a 3/8 so I could have the whole thing on a LP quick disconnect, but sadly they don't...
