That'll be the sort then!! Y'know, just in case you need to burn into a safe or something....honestly, £30 for a lighter - more money than sense. Mind you, that has to be true to start diving in the first place, I guess.

Well, actually, I went on a camping trip and got repeatedly burned.
We only had a normal lighter, and our cooking thing ran off a small reserve of paraffin.
To get the flame to the fluid, we had to turn the lighter upside down, whereupon it either started melting itself or scorched my fingers.
So when I heard about this lighter that could jet flame downwards with no problem, I just HAD to have it.
Of course, we've got a better cooker since then. But it's still handy to have. You can use it to light a BBQ without ligher fluid, do a bit of spot soldering, all that kind of thing..

Hey Dom,

You don't fancy throwing one of those torch lenses my way do you? I tried four glaziers in Chester and none of them could make a decent one... The one i currently have was done by hand and is very rough round edges - scared of knackering o-ring...

When Matt was answering he included an "ADJUSTABLE WENCH" rather than "adjustable wrench". All the guys thought it would be much more useful!
But yeah Mole grips are my favourite tool, you can use then for everything, holding things, hitting things, and undoing the nut that the last macho man did up far tighter than necessary.

Dom, you've pretty much got it wrapped up there. I would include a small maglite solitare for poking into dark places. Since as has been pointed out, you will be helping others less sensible than yourself. Therefore, I also take spare gloves and a spare hood.

I would also add pen and paper, cash and a bar or two of chocolate. A thick book wrapped in a plastic bag is also good!

I'm assuming you carry a smal first aid pack elsewhere. If not, you should have one in the car, and I keep a bottle or two of water as well.

One last point - you can never have too many black bin liners!

I got a free Pelican micro-light when I bought two Sabres, but I gave it to the girlfriend.. maybe I should've reserved it for the tool box
I have a spare hood & drygloves in my divebag, if anyone's daft enough to need them...
Pen & paper live in my drysuit pocket, so I'm not too concerned about that.. and I installed a mars bar already Come to think of it, maybe I should put a sealed bag of home-made sherbet in there as well, for those "God I need an energy boost" moments... I could even put in some of the caffeinated variety for the REAL pick-me-up moments...
First aid kit lives in the car, will probably add my little rucksack kit to the box tho, as I don't always take my car to the dive site..

P.S. Justin - can send you a lens or two, but they're fairly thin (1.5mm I think) and they still need the edges filing down a little.. nowhere seems to do perfect smooth circles.
Will have to try out my own glass cutter at some point..

Have about all mentioned there, but do have a first aid kit with it. I have put paracetemol, mediacl superglue (it seals wounds assuming you clean them first) a small bandage (if it bleeds that bad, rip up your t-shirt) antiseptic, clove oil (for any gum bleeds) witch hazel (for any grazes, stings etc) and diocalm. If the injuries are any bigger, you're off to hospital ! The biggest stuff I use with Club divers is diocalm and paracetemol, something to do with hangovers and beer ?

Puncture repair kit- It's good for fixing holes in latex neck, cuff seals.
Aquasure- It's good for fixing any wee holes anywhere.
Space blanket- Cheap, compact and you never know when it might be handy.
Lanyards.
Dod of Petroleum jelly- seals anything up again that you've had to unseal i.e. torch, inflator valve etc.
List of chamber 'phone numbers.
