To pop or not to pop??

hey guys an gals,

has anyone got any experiances of putting AP Valves screw on hose connectors on a non AP hose?? At the moment I've re-done my twins the "right" way up again and the Apeks hose for the back-up reg is a little too long. I was going to chop it and put the AP connector (I've a few layin round sumwhere) on it but i noticed that the two hoses have different thicknesses of walls, ID is still the same however. Will this make any differance to the grip that the connector will get, or will it make f**k all differance?? Thought i'd ask the audience before doing a 50/50 dive with my left hand on the post for the entire dive!! POP...bubble,bubble,bubble...BUGGER...
