the o ring on my pony bottle seems to need replacing about every 2-3 dives. i cant figure out why it goes so often. my main cylinder o ring is fine for ages.  i always turn my air on very slowley so it's not that. i havent had it apart, but i cant see any bits of metal that might be causing it.
i dont grease the o rings, could that be it?
any suggestions are welcome.
ta
ian.

Ian
I havent replaced my pony O rings since I first bought them
about 40 dives ago so they do seem a bit quick in the replacement stakes. I dont grease them either. When you have to replace them are they sliced in some way? If so it sounds as if the first stage might be cutting them, assuming you have inserts in the tank (to convert to din) can you get a new one so as to take that out of the suspect items, or swap it with your main tank and see if the same thing happens.

Matt

Have you checked your regulator where it seals against the O-rings? Any deformities present in the reg itself could do a lot of damage to an O-ring..

Convert to DIN, the problem will go away

Hi Ian,

I had a similar problem with my pony, after I changed to DIN it was fine.

Safe diving,
Steve.

When you unscrew the knob on the A clamp does the whole assembly twist round before loosening off (or up)?

Is there any slight pressure left in the hoses when you unscrew the a-clamp?
