Thanks for that.... I think I bought all my kit from Arthur at sds. That was before the m1 was so clogged up! Not been there for ten years, I'll have to make the effort and pop in. Thanks for the advice |

DIY drysuit repairs. Where can I get consumables from? A mate of mine recently gave me his old drysuit after getting a new one, and I spent some of this weekend going over it looking for leaks (I would just blow it up but I've got about 2 bar left in my only cylinder and no compressor). He says it's only ever let a bit of water in through the zip, which I'm hoping I'll be able to fix with some bees wax or similar, as there are no visible holes/gaps in it. Would bees wax be the best option or is there another product that's better suited (pardon the pun)? I've also noticed that the neck seal is almost knackered, and there's the beginnings of a small tear in one of the legs. I've ordered a new neck seal (from go-dive in Derby, is this bad?!) but haven't been able to find any of the following (which I assume I'll need): Aquasolve or some form of solvent to remove old/excess adhesive Adhesive itself Does anybody know of somewhere that sells everything you could ever need to carry out these kind of repairs? I regard my local dive shop as SDS in Eckington, but can't see anything like this on their website. Any help/advice appreciated.

Bees wax is for lubricating zips to make them run smooth not to keep water out under pressure. If you are confident you can repair and test the suit prior to diving then go ahead and make the repairs. Try:- http://www.diverswarehouse.co.uk http://www.wet-windy.co.uk/acatalog/... ls_glue.html http://www.roho.co.uk/acatalog/Robin...pairs_507.html Bear in mind that your suit is your thermal protection against the cold, get it wrong and your going to get soaked, cold and be miserable. Missed dive. Also your primary or secondary buoyancy aid depending how you dive. Lose this and you’re heading for the incident pit. Or worst case scenario your in the last few mins of your dive and you suit floods on you an MAX depth, your going to have to suffer the cold for the duration of your ascent and any deco obligations. Not nice. Best advice IMHO would be to get it repaired and checked out for peace of mind. Cheers, Gary.

Lomo also sell at the various types of adhesive and seals. Think the 2-part adhesive is the way to go. It is possible to do it yourself but it can be quite a tricky task. Might be worth trying get a hand from someone who has done it before. I'm told that and old traffic cone can be useful to support everything whilst you stick the seal on. Might be worth calculating how much cheaper it actually is to do it yourself than to have LDS do it for you. May well be worth spending the extra few quid to get them to do it. Ally PS i see you are new- Welcome to YD. Why not post an intro on the intro page.

Thanks guys, some very useful links as well as sound advice. I think I'll attempt the repair myself, test it in my local friendly pool and then if it still leaks go to a professional
