| Hi All, I've just received my nice shiny new UK D8R torch. Only thing I don't like about it is the mechanism for securing the handle to it (i.e. tension screw against body). Anyone who has one got any good tips for how to make it that bit more secure? Wouldn't want to drop it on anyones head, what with it weighing about 3 stone and all Cheers, Dave.

| Imported post I did not like the idea of fitting a screw into the torch body with mine. However, I did, and I have had no trouble with it at all. I even changed the pistol grip for a lantern grip. FWIW I have used mine for four years of wreck diving and all seems secure - after being dragged along the bed on the end of a bungee cord several times whilst I resolved more pressing matters. Although it is a big heavy lump of a torch it is tough (still on original bulbs) and bright with a built in back up bulb. It is one purchase I have made that I have not regretted in any shape or form.

| Imported post Being a engineer i'd simply super glue the handle on. But then again i am known to butcher things at work!

| Peter, glue was my first thought too - have some araldite somewhere... Finless - good to hear you've not regretted choosing it. Where did you get the lantern handle? I might go that route too, but will try the pistol grip for a bit first. Means the gluing has to wait a bit, so tight screw for now... Cheers chaps.

If you have any problems let me know and I will enquire at my LDS (Hastings, E. Sussex). Peter K has now got me worried having broken his torch handle - the shock cord/lanyard attaches to the handle so the handle will allways be with you while the expensive bit drops to the bottom (negatively buoyant). Seriously - you only have to look at the casing on my D8 to see what a tough life it has had and with no handle problems. Maybe I'll glue mine as well - just in case.

| Yeah I knew as I hit send someone would pick up on the tight screw - only surprised it took so long Right, screw tightly then glue once decided which handle, seems to be the way. Thanks all. Finless, cheers for your offer of talking to LDS about handle. I'll give the pistol grip a whirl next week (I'm in red sea
