Does anyone know the best way to glue cargo pockets onto a wetsuit?
Is it best with the suit on or off? Allowing for the stretch of the neoprene!

<font color='#0000FF'>Suit off, but put it on first, hold the pocket up and mark where you want it.
Try to be super neat with the glue. ie. glue about 1/2cm inside the template or it all squidges out when you press it down.
Experience talkin &nbsp;

£40!! Fookn' 'ell!! The whole suit only cost 65 made to measure! Are they 'aving a laugh?

I think I'll go and see if the factory can just stitch/glue a pocket on.

But thanks for the link, Stu..

I use the DiveRite detachable cargo pockets which gives me an option of taking the pockets off my suit it I don't need them. I find its much easier having a &quot;toolkit&quot; of pockets with gear in them plus it I dont get any drag from having empty pockets on my suit.

I had two cargo pockets glued / sewn onto a shortie wetsuit for a trip to Sharm in the Summer.

Rather than having a go myself I decided to call in the professionals. I spoke to the guy at Aqualeisure (Andy) who I originally got my drysuit from (Aquatek) and he thought that it shouldn't be a problem as long as I didn't have massive thighs that the material would need to stretch around.

All in all I got the two cargo pockets stitched and glued on including supplying the pockets for around £10 -£15 each. The turnaround was about three days. The pockets are the same as the ones that you get on a membrane drysuit.

Aqualeisure can be contacted on 01745815476 They do have a website of sorts but I can't remember the url.

The pockets worked fine, especially as I was using a one piece harness and a wing. They gave me somewhere to store all the 'bits'.

By the way Aqualeisure make really excellent value drysuits as well. Not advertised in the UK much but well worth investigating if you're in the market for a new suit.

Hope this helps, Ian.

Ian,

Many thanks for the info...it's one of the best things about this forum that someone almost always knows something useful and is ready to pass it on. Those guys at Aqualeisure sound like they offer a good deal...

just a couple of minor problems...

um, don't quite know how to put this...

This sounds like another good idea. I've tried to find them on t'net but can't - can you help?

And aren't there loose pockets that you clip on your BC or something? Or are those the same thing?

I got mine from GoDive (had to give them a call though) but I'd imagine any DiveRite dealer sells them.

The pockets have an elasticated, velcro thigh strap which is very comfortable and an adjustable top loop which I thread my harness through (but it would attach to a weight belt as well).

I'm not a big fan or cargo pockets really as I always tend to leave something in them by mistake which means that I can't find them and they always seem like another thing to catch lines, stages, etc on.
