Following on from Dominic's post "Uses for bungee, duck/duct tape, & cable ties" one of the suggested uses was "Make a bungee necklace for your backup DV"

This may be a stupid question, but how do you secure the DV to the bungee? Anybody any Pics? I've just got hold of some bungee and I'm about to upgrade my fins and quite like the idea of the bungee necklace.

All help appreciated.

Thanks,
/Colin.

The bungee around my cyclons is about 1mm and can easily be tied for thicker stuff use tie-wraps.  make sure that the bungee is short enough that you have bend your head down and 'pick up' the DV mouth you mouth ie. you shouldn't need your hands.  It should be long enough not to be uncomforatable ie. like a noose!

You can thread it through a bit of tubing, so you have a figure-eight of bungee, with your neck going through the big loop and the DV mouthpiece going through the smaller one.

However, since my backup is for my use and mine alone, I knotted the ends of a bit of bungee, and put it under the cable tie that holds the mouthpiece on the DV. Very secure!

There's a couple of pix at http://diveweb.oneandoneis2.com/necklace.htm that might make it clearer..

<font color='#0000FF'>Hi Monster, have a look at this.

It doesnt look much, but i've used this loop for about 2 years now.
Never come undone, no probs at all.
KISS.

Make a simple loop at the end of a length of bungie, tie the other end of the length to the side of the loop.
Use fishermans knots on each side and melt with a lighter when tight,

Stu.
