| OK, an actual good use for duct tape - over the jubilee clip on a cylinder, so you don't ge the screwy bit digging in anywhere and popping anything which shouldnt' be. A single strip round the tank covers all the essentials, and maeks things look pretty too, and helps streamlining. I love the way John calls it "rebreather tape". I'm yet to find an application a snoopyloop can't be used for too. They should be on the list. I have used tanks stage mounted with nothing other than 2 snooploops and a couple of dog clips. They work fine, and are stong as hell, yet still flexible! Cable tie a O-ring to the back of the lighthead on a torch, and another one at the front, then just use one double ender to clip it off - you can leave the double ender on your D-ring, on the torch, and you don't have clips flapping about doing that annoying metal on metal thing while you swim along. And if need be in an emergency the O-ring will break to get you out of a tight spot. Hope some of this helps. |

| home made stage strap... rope loop around neck of bottle, knot same bit of rope onto piston clips, finish by jubilee clip rope onto base end of cylinder - cable tie to avoid fraying/knot undoing/rope movement |

| Some of these uses may have already been covered elsewhere.... Most of them were pinched from other people I just thought I summarise what I use for my own gear. ________ Def: Snoopy Loop: ring cut from an inner tube. Sourcing: Find suitable size of mountain bike, car and truck tyre inner tubes from local garage etc Sizes vs uses: - Mountain Bike inner tube is good for harness rigging. - Car Inner tube is good for 3 L tanks, gauge fixing and general bungee replacement. - Truck inner tube or 4x4 tubes are good for larger tanks. - Cut rings of inner tube approx 1" wide. If supply is plenty a handle can be cut onto some of the loops by cutting a small D shape to stick out on the outside edge - makes it easier to grab with cold hands. The handle bit can be cut in the tube around the valve area thus maximising use of tube if in short supply (one loop with handle on either side of the valve, or around areas with patches) Size of loop can be increased by cutting loops diagonally across the tube, otherwise cut in a straight line. Stage rigging: - Place one snoopy loop under jubilee clips on stage harness to stop corrosion of tank - put Jubilee clip on top of snoopy loop, place tie wrap under Jubilee clip just behind the tightening nut bit. Tighten Jubilee clip, then secure sticky out metal tongue with tie wrap to hold it down onto the metal band and stop it catching or cutting things. - Place snoopy loop over jubilee clip to cover up sticky out bits - Place one snoopy loop near base of tank, place snoopy loop with handle over stage handle to make stowing of regs easier (by ifting the string handle you can lift up the snoopy loop and thus grab it more easily underwater) - use a smaller loop to fix the contents gauge to the first stage Drysuit Boot Retainers: (car or truck inner tube) - stops air migrating into boot. To fit, select appropriate size. Step foot into loop. Pull around ankle. Put one twist into loop at the front and pull over top of foot. Arrange loop to sit around middle of foot. Boot now secured. Much cheaper than Gators Lift bag straps: (car inner tube) - Roll up bag so straps are on the outside. Fix a clip to end of strap Fix a snoopy loop to the clip Wind straps aound the bag until clip is level with bag. Pull snoopy loop tightly over bag to secure straps and clip. By pulling on the clip the loop can be lifted and removed easily, ready to deploy lift bag. Aids for DIR harness rigging: For all the below: use mountain bike inner tube Torch retainers - cut 0.5" thick rings and feed 4 or 5 loops over the harness webbing to sit at the base of the shoulder strap. One is used to secure the backup torch, the others are spares in case the first one breaks. So you don't need to rethread the whole harness to replace a broken loop. BCD/wing inflator hose retainer: - cut 0.5" thick rings and feed two or three loops over the corrugated BCD or Wing hose, then feed inflator hose through these loops before connection to inflator valve. Webbing saver: - cut a piece of 2 - 3" length of tube and thread them onto the harness webbing where it passes through the backplate slots. Prevents webbing from chaffing too quickly in the shoulder slot and stops webbing slipping through waist slots. ... anyone for any more? Anke

| A 1/3 - 3/4" strip of inner tube tied into a loop through one of the back-plate holes makes a good retainer for the torch cannister to keep it where it needs to be during kitting and dekitting - no swinging around on the waist-strap. Use 2, one top, one bottom. |

| Cheers, Lou, nice one! ... that also works to keep the argon tank in its place if mounted on the waiststrap.
