I'm putting together a new page for the novice's guide to dive equipment.

Specifically, a page about how to make your rig specifically tailored to you - replacing adjustable fin straps with bungee, etc etc.

I don't want to miss anything out, so if anyone can think of more examples of how the above (or anything else) can be used, please post now!

Currently, I have:

Remove the straps on your wrist-mounted instruments and replace them with bungee threaded through tubing.

Put your name or initials or other identifying message onto your SMB using black duck tape so everybody knows who you are. (Some people like to add messages along the lines of "T whte 2sug" or "Coff blk 1sug" as well...)

Put clear duck tape on your wrist slate and write on it with permanent marker anything you need to know on dives

Make a bungee necklace for your backup DV

Use bungee loops or cable ties to hold things in place - like your emergency flag, octopus, SPG, torch, SMB, line cutter, BCD inflator hose, etc, etc.

Put loops of bungee at the top of your pockets, then clip pocket contents to the bungee so nothing gets lost when you rummage through the contents.

New one from this weekends diving conference: bungee plus clips for your stage bottles, that way if you need to shunt your stage(s) to one side to access something else, they'll move easily.

Dom,

I just wanted to take part SO even if it is of no use/already done :-

Use one to two inch wide strips of car tyre inner tube on your cylinder (top and bottom) to hold flag, excess hose etc out of the way.

Better than bungee because it is free from any "tyre garage".

Using zip ties and bungee I've elongated the tabs on the zips on my BC.  Could never find the bloody things before hand.

Do I get extra points for using two items from your list?

we have used duck tape to seal up leaking wrist and neck seals. not tidy or elegant but if you have knackered your suit then it gets you in the water.

<font color='#F52887'>however don't use duck tape to seal up leaking ski gloves (at the end of the ski season), and then try to dry them out on the radiator, I promise you, it was better getting soggy fingers in the first place

other than that duck tape can be relied upon to create number plates from torn up bits when another car is towing the boat or you've lost the trailer board number plate, also when the bungees that hold the trailer board to the boat wear thin and pop off at 70 mph duck tape works remarkably well to hold them back on again.

of course none of this can be sanctioned by the BSAC boat handling course (which incidently I'm doing next weekend )

<font color='#000080'>Thanks guys, I've just sunk my Family fortune into Ducktape, Tiewrap and Bungie shares

Edit:

On the leaky Neck seal issue, I once made a rubber collar out of the two rubber diveknife straps buckled together found my neck. Pretty uncomfortable but didn't let in a drop. &nbsp;
