Question Power Inflate cleaning

I stripped the power inflate from my wing and it was pretty cruddy. I popped it in my nice new Ultrasonic cleaner and gave it a few (like 10) 480 second cycles both with and without washing up liquid but it still wont shift the crud.

Does anyone have any tips of other cleaning solutions I can use that wont destroy the O rings?

Thanks

John

Lemon juice or white vinegar, don't think washing up liquid will break down the calcium deposits.

White vinegar worked on mine and I changed the O rings whilst I had it apart.

Thanks, good idea.

Where can I get new O rings from? Its a Custom Divers Wing.

EDIT

What about the general purpose descaler you use on thing like your kettle, shower head etc. Would that be OK or too strong?

What you want is Biox. It's a great cleaning solution for anything plastic and metal, and really really shifts the crap. I use it when the usual ultrasonic hasn't done it, and I know some people who use it in ultrasonics as well.

Not sure where it comes from, as I tend to get mine from people getting bigger orders. A couple of litres will last you years unless you're servicing for a living.

Digs.

As with all dive kit it is a real PITA if you want to do anything yourself. I couldn't officially buy any O rings for my OMS however, some kind YDer saw my 'thread' and sent me some through the post FOC!

I don't know ref the strength but I do know that the vinegar sorted my inflator out very nicely + I just prefered using something organic. I suppose it is remotely feasible that I might need to breath off that inflator one day if I suffer about 18 kit failures!

O rings can be bought all over the place, engineering supply wholesellers will sell you a life time supply for about 5 pounds, but if you buy the mixed bag from beaver, you will have what you need.

With my poor memory I don't remember. It was a 'him'. Anyway, whoever you are, thanks very much!
