Wing repair

Hi,

Just a note to remind people to check their kit before diving, even if it has just been returned from the specialists.

I sent my wing back to the manufacturers to repair a tear in the material near the dump valve at the top. The wing was working ok before it was sent. No leaks.

When it had come back with the frayed outside bit suitably glued down I took it diving.

Surface swimming out yesterday for the first dive I became aware of the sound of bubbles behind me. Yes, it was the dump valve on the wing!

Back to the exit point we go, remove the kit and wander up to the portakabin at Capernwray. The nice man there said he would look at it for me so after dismantling the set he did just that.

Found that the diaphragm had been kinked, straightened it out, reassembled it then inflated it. Less bubbles this time but still leaking.

He inspected the O ring but couldn't see anything wrong with it. He then patiently waded through his extensive O ring sets to find one the same size. Then fitted it.

Wonderful, no leaks.

All credit to the man at Capers, and at no cost.

Two sucessful dives after that, bubbleless.

Cheers

Lyv
