Soldering Iron to trim webbing

Anyone got any recommendations for a cheap one?

My hob heated pizza cutter just isn't cutting the mustard, let alone the webbing

It also makes the pizza taste funny.

Is this to trim webbing for a harness? I've always used sharp scissors and cooks matches to melt the edges, if that's any help?

Soldering irons work great and make a much more permanent edge. Any old cheap one will do. They're much more effective than a flame in my experience. Great for sealing knots in caveline as well

Heat up an old knife very hottly and use that. Glowing hottly is good.

Use an old knife, not your swish Leatherman/Swiss Army Knife because steel knifes don't like being made to glow hottly and rusty quickly. Knife can be a blunt table knife since the heat does the cutting and seals the webbing at the same time.

But i've seen some soldering irons which come with a rope cutting point. Try Maplins.

I use a wooden handled putty knife - cost a couple of quid from B&Q. Just heat it right up on the gas ring, put the webbing flat on the bread board; you can guess the rest. Makes a very neat and tidy cut.

I've tried a hot knife, scissors & lighters etc but just find that it eventually frays.

if its fraying after heating then you havent melted the end enough.
