| It's easy enough to change but I had a great deal of trouble getting the right battery. Got it from Suunto in the end. Make sure you put it in the right way round!!!

Paul I know Mark Davies had the same problem and he was advised by one dive centre at an inland quarry that you couldnt change the battery. Luckily he didnt listen to them and went to his LDS whereby he bought a new battery and O ring and replace it himself. It was tested today out at Anglesey and all was fine and no more fail sign. |

| Oh no, thats 2 responses that say I can change it myself. I'll lose face if I don't at least try now won't I, Won't I? Cheers Yaz

| I even managed to change mine myself and the only DIY I can do is superglue my fingers together. It really is easy to change. Davie

| Carefully remove four small cross-head screws with the correct size screwdriver. Let the cover pop off the main part. Replace battery with a new one the same size, type and rotation (polarity). Check the O-ring. I bet it's perfect and doesn't need replacing. Squeeze the cover back on. Carefully replace screws using the original threads cut in the plastic whilst holding the two parts squeezed together. Job done.

| I take it all back! I have just been told by a man from a certain computer manufacturer that this battery is NOT meant to be user-changeable so SEND IT BACK TO SUUNTO for replacement before you break something!!!! ...and Is my face red?

| I've changed my battery on it twice in the past few years and nothing wrong with it. I've replaced the O-ring once because it was frayed. For peace of mind, send it back. Or else get a battery for 5.99GBP (used to be alot cheaper!) CR14250CBL Size 1/2AA 3V hxxp://www.smallbattery.company.org.uk/sbc_cr1-2aa_lithium.htm The picture is the older one they used to send which also works (but note the polarities are reversed), the one I recently got from them is the EEMB version (identical to the one you get from Suunto) It really is just a case of taking the 4 screws off, remove batt but new one in (check polarity), check O-ring, seal and screw back. |
