Talking Advice needed

Advice please...

I am replacing my shoulder automatic dump valve and the existing mounting patch is knackered. Should I:

A) remove - but how, what solution should be used as not to damage suit

B) stick the new patch over the old - can any one see any problems doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Q. Why did the razorbill raise her bill?

A. So the sea urchin could see her chin!

If its a glued on patch then a gentle amount of heat from eg a hair drier, or more carefully, a hotair gun, will loosen the glue's grip and you should be able to peel it off carefully. If you want to glue on a new patch then you should try to remove as much old glue residue as you can before using any new adhesive to stick down the new patch. This works nice and easily on membrane suits but may be a little bit trickier on neoprene ones. If you can repair a bicycle inner tube you can stick on your own patches.
I had bother with a badly seated Auto dump on my suit and removed the dump and covered the hole with two layers of Hypalon, one inside and one outside, to be sure, to be sure. I now have a cuff dump.

Thanks Pioneer - it's a membrane suit, I am quite practical for a blonde... so even I should be able to manage this
