Coltri sub Compressor help

I have a Coltri sub MCH 6/EM - 2.8 cfm Single Phase Electric compressor which has now started to take a very long time to fill cylinders. 1 x 12lt 232 cylinder now takes about three hours to fill. There is no drop in final pressure , it just take a very very long time. It has had a oil change, I have checked the air intake and the filters have only about 15 hours of running. I have also checked the belt tension and it seems nice and tight.

Any ideas please, I am a long way from anywhere than can check it and just want to make sure I have checked everything.

Thanks in advance

Lee

Hiya Lee, Dive Tramp here, check that your "motor to pump" belts are at the right tension, if they are too tight they may slow the motor down! They do slacken off after a short while from new. I didn't notice on mine for a bit, then I noticed they were fraying. Still under warranty (as is yours), so got new ones FOC from Coltri-sub. All leak off valves completely shut down? Check there's no air escaping from the Safety Valve as its running (it's ok, it's safe to do so, provided you don't have long sleeves on etc...put your finger over the hole, even if it is blowing off there's not enough pressure to give any problems, like embolisms. 'Course, you can always ask Coltri-sub.

Hiya DT,, you do get around abit don,t you I will double check all those tomorrow , but can,t move for midges at the moment As with all things on the islands its taking time to get the thing back to Coltri sub, you would think I lived in the Outer hebrides of something, its now been a month since I contacted them and they said they would collect it and its still sat here, my post is more of desperation than any real hope of getting it working, thats life, its not the s*** its the depth of its that varies.

Hi Lee,
What have you been doing! first the 4S 7 and now this.

Have you got a hand tachometer? if you have check to pump speed, it should be 2240 rpm and the moter shaft speed should be 2800 rpm.
As DT said check also the relief valves for leaks, a trace of oil around an interstage valve would indicate a leak.
When the compressor is at maximum pressure check all the pipe joints, you can get at safely, for leaks with a soap solution but don't forget to wash it off afterwards, if left on it will corrode.
Shame about SMP

Did you get the bumph I sent about the 4S 7

Phil

I was thinking that last night when we were running a compressor on the car park, bloody things are twice the side this year. Just come back from Eriskay from a dive and got eaten alive.
