    Sticky P-Clips

    I've got a few P-clips and double enders which are a a little sticky and showing a little rust around the spring. Dived yesterday at NDAC and they were buggers in the cold with my thick gloves on.

    Can I grease the springs (silicone grease?) or should I bin 'em and replace?

    Drop of vegetable oil down the spring makes a massive difference. Silicone is too sticky. I use a hypodermic needle to squirt a drop in. About every 6 months nip round all of them on my kit.

    Have a go and report back...

    I had a batch like that from stainless direct, they were meant to be 316 but the springs obviously were not, so he replaced them for me, the new ones were quite stiff at first so i followed woz's advice with the vegetable oil, that was 8 months ago and they have been fine ever since.

    Went the vegi oil route - luxury olive oil from the wife's stash.

    Used a syringe as per Woz's advice to avoid a cack handed job and now... well... they're smooooother than a smooth thing.
