    Twinset Testing - Cost?

Roughly how much does a 12l twinset cost to test? Is hydro more than visual? I'd assume so.

Also what kind of cost does the manifold add to the whole thing? As I assume that's tested aswell.

    Thanks.

Obviously it's dependant on LDS but I'm just after a rough idea.

Pick a random number (see the O2 cleaning thread)

I usually pay £50-60 including an O2 clean. I've seen cheaper and I've seen a lot more expensive.

For me a hydro is usually £10-15 more than a visual.

AFAIK The manifold is not tested but the valve threads are checked against a 'go/no go' thread gauge, as are the cylinder threads.

I think Nigel Ingram, from this manor, charges around £90-£95 if I am not mistaken for a visual/o2 clean. He did post a few months ago with prices

I think paid round about £50 as well when I got mine done. Some places charge a handling fee for twinsets, if they do then I break mine down into single cylinders and plug the port where the manifold screws in.

This and the O2 clean thread make interesting reading as the price differences are quite large.

I paid £86 for an O2 and was quoted £45 for each cylinder for hydro that's a whopping £186. I would have thought some of that charge would be waved if both were being done together but its still a hefty cost at nearly half the of a new set.

    So the real question: -

Other than an O2 at 15 months, is it really worth testing or just buy new every 2 1/2 years?

BEH in Knottingly charge £22 for Visuals, £27.50 for Hydros, £11 for O2 clean - per cylinder. If you take in a twinset then double it cos there's two

I can't remember now whether there is a bundled price for test+O2 clean.

That inc valve/manifold kits and VAT, without these it works out to £21.50 per cylinder.

I'm not sure about name and shame as most charge about the same around here.

I still make that £36 for the service kit which, let's face it, is mostly a few 'O' rings.

If you're happy paying £86 for an O2 clean - carry on and fill yer boots
