    Re-stitching shot bags

    Hi all,
I've got a Lumb Bros 2kg lead shot bag that burst it's stitching the other day. Having emptied it and turned it inside out i'll get swmbo to put it through the sewing machine.
However, i'm pretty sure that ordinary thread will rot in salt water.
So what thread do I need to use and where can I get it from, please.

Many thanks in advance and here's hoping for the odd sensible reply in amongst the usual!

    Regards,
    Steve.

Can you put a plastic bag inside, when you inflate it should then hold the air?.

Bonded nylon or T336 polyester threads are strong and resistant to sea water.
Dont know where you could by from though.

    Good luck

No once you restitch the bag it does not hold air properly, another plastic bag inside does work!.

I bought a reel of sailmaker's polyester thread a few years ago and everything I've used that on is still intact.

It was a couple of quid on fleabay.

You need a sailmakers merchants or chandalary.

I've bought a spool for repairs on the BC's and stuff. Think it cost about
£3 for a very large spool that would do about 20 odd ordinary reels.
(it might do more, bit i'm still using the first reel).
