Hope spings eternal! I know it's not looking good, but my prayers and thoughts are with the lads and their loved ones.

It appears that they have located the bodies close to the downed Lynx.

My father flew out of Heron in the early eighties and was also killed flying.

I just feel really sad for the families who will have an empty Christmas, may God go with the brave crew.

Its a big sea to look for a small personal liferaft. Hope they find them.

The LYNX does not carry personal liferafts, they carry 2 x 4 man and they are big, Don't forgot this was a MoD Aircraft carrying modern day kit, where this happened , they would have been found within 30 minutes .

These guys are the best of the bunch,,,, they are the rotary wing version of the Red Arrows.
The pilots do a hard job and get some bloody good jollies, but thats life.
Doing a demanding and rewarding job as they do, it's part of the job when things go tits up...... Tough, for the loved ones left behind.

However , so many are grateful for these and other lads that give life to save others, a crying shame when things go wrong.

Unhappy

Here's the bird identical to the one they were flying:

And the bitter irony is that they were doing this so that others might live.

Rest easy lads.

RIP.
