Personally i carry:-

1. Flag (yellow)
2. DSMB (Orange)
3. OOA DSMB (Yellow)
4. Strobe (for surface use only)
5. 3 Torches. NOW 2 and one is doing seabed survey work
6. Whistle.
7. Radar reflectors on suit (Don't have them on the Devil Hood though )

121.5 MHz personal locator beacons (PLBs) are relatively cheap and Lifeboats and aircraft can home in on their signal. They may even be picked up by satellite.

Once the Coastguard have been alerted to the fact that there are divers missing who are equipped with PLBs they can task their resources who, once on-scene, should be able to follow the signal straight to the divers day or night.

Make PLB no1 on the list. With dayglo flag and torch 2nd & 3rd.

And do any PLBs cut the mustard particularly well? I have seen a couple of people with the sea marshall PLB, which looks pretty handy. Nice and small and not too expensive. Anyone used one of them in anger?
