Brixham Coastguard - Diving Incidents

31st July 1215. The Rescue Helicopter (Rescue 169) from Chivenor airlifted a male diver to DDRC Plymouth from the dive vessel Wey Chieftain. The diver experienced DCS symptoms following a rapid ascent.

I can - it was Wave Chieftain II not Wey Chieftain III - I was on one and know someone who was on t'other!

Thanks, I thought it a bit odd that a call from Wey Chieftain would go through Brixham rather than Portland, and wondered about possible confusion.

Wave Chieftain II was Wey Chieftain before Richard bought it IIRC. His old boat Wave Chieftain still operates too, so plenty of scope for error. Should be out with Richard myself this Thursday.

I hope all is well with the casualty.

Brixham Coastguard Diving Incident

31st July 1427. Plymouth Coastguard, Plymouth Lifeboat and Westcounrty Ambulance assisted the dive boat Maid Maggie after one of the divers on board showed symptoms of decompression sickness. The diver was transferred to an awaiting ambulance at Mayflower Steps, Barbican, Plymouth and transported to DDRC Plymouth.
