| I seem to recall I put in the Club Name for owner, it caused no problem. They must get it quite a lot. Adrian

| Hi. The club name seemed OK the only bit we struggled with was next of kin/contact number, who do you put. As we normally dive the same area of the East coast, i:e off Hornsea, we are well known to the launch site, we tell them were we are going (nearly)and what time we expect to be back, and they do have personal contact numbers for us as individuals. Its good to be world famous around Hornsea!

| For owner's name put the club name or the name of the person who is responsible for looking after the boat. Next of kin/contact is someone on shore who will be able to give the coastguard more information about what you were intending to do and where you were intending to do it, should it be necessary to mount a search for you. As for the form being more appropriate for cruisers, remember this form is a catch-all for every type of vessel; all we want is information that will help us to find you in an emergency so basically what we want is as full a description of the boat as possible, what safety equipment she carries i.e does she have a VHF radio (what are the MMSI number and callsign), if equipped with EPIRB or SART etc; what life saving equipment - lifejackets, life rafts etc and what type of activity she is mostly used for (if she's a dive boat we know the crew will have diving suits and diving equipment, we also will know she will be behaving differently to a cruiser or yacht etc) and of course a shore contact. Fill in all the sections which are appropriate to your vessel - the more information you can provide the easier you will make it for us to find you should the need arise. If you're still having a problem call your local coastguard station. They will sort you out. Last edited by Humber Coastguard : 06-12-05 at 05:58 PM. |

| Cheers for those replies. I just stuck the club name in and it accepted it so the form is now filled in. Not sure if its my end or not but the photo submit at the end didnt work with firefox, it just did nothing and i had to re-log in via internet explorer to get it to upload. 1 boat registered and 1 to go (after ive been down and got the details ive forgotten about it...) |
