| Fingers crossed it is all ok. Sounds promising that it was a medical advice call and not a direct heli call or similar.

| Ooh that egg is gonna smart putting his hood on! Was it a bit "Foggy" on the boat, that he didn't see the threshold? Or was he just a little "Foggy" from the night before?

| Whilst published in good faith, the posts about our trip were seen by my children and wife some hours before I was able to talk to them. This has caused considerable and entirely unnecessary distress. I would urge that people in future either restrain themselves or contact all of the next of kin on any trip with FULL details (which haven't been published yet) at least until the people on the trip can themselves make contact with their loved ones! As it happens, I tripped going into the cabin. I tried to hold on to the door frame with my wet hands - regrettably I was unable to do so, nor was I then able to bring them forward to protect myself. I hit the deck head first. I wasn't groggy, I didn't pass out - although the hot tea that was accidently chucked on my head did hurt a tad. Being a head injury and being close to port, we requested a medic to check it out. By the time we made port the swelling was going down, and apart from a lump I felt fine. The ambulance medic was cautious with it being a head injury - so took me off to hospital. When the doc had finished laughing he checked it out & within 10 mins I was outta there - 7 of those were signing forms to ensure my NHS trust paid theirs. I didn't dive again yesterday, nor today - all only precautionary! Apart from being on a diving trip, it had nothing whatsoever to do with diving - more a case of a dumb klutz. The lump has gone down, so I don't look like a half Klingon anymore, just left with a bit of a bruise - no sympathy from the wife, and instructions to cancel the rest of my years diving trips ('cos you lot scared the life out of her!) Cheers, Paul |

| Sorry Paul, no distress to your family was intended |

Your request raises an interesting point. The original post came from a member of the MCGA. Now I don't wan't to get the guy in trouble, but this does not appear to be a press release, so is it 'official'. You certainly have a point re informing NoK first. I thought agencies such as the police kept names (don't know about boats names) out of the public eye until the Next of Kin have been informed. A shame that your family learnt in this fashion and were unnecessarily worried. A good reason not to discuss events until the concerned parties have given the go-ahead? Adrian

| As I said previously, I'm sure that all of the posts were meant in good faith. I've no problem with people learning from (or laughing at) any incident in which I am the star performer - just please give me chance to be the first to talk to my family. However, I would urge people to consider the possible consequences - perhaps a delay of a day? Cheers, Paul PS from Lou's post I gather that the photo's have already been published? In my day we rushed to help a casualty - now they just rush for cameras! |

Hang on a minute , Ade,,,,,,, I'll rather Paul ( Humber cg ) put up a post, than read something a pri** with a scanner or something they heard over a vessels VHF post 3rd hand . At least Paul is in a position to post the FACTS, wether they are before they hit the MCA newsroom, ( from what i observe and understand is ) newsroom reports are posted after 10:00 on week days and NOT every incident is listed ,,,,,,,,,, as that would takes pages . Not only that, but Paul lists 2 incidents concerning Divers on Sunday, not singled out the one, he may or may not know some members from YD were on that gig? I for one , hope that Paul is not disheartened by tis post and will contiune in posting first hand facts as and when he can. Careless whispers spreads shit, in my book Andy

I too would rather read things from primary sources, but the MCGA will only be reporting what they know, which might not be a full story in itself. So facts, but not always all of them. Adrian
