Ade,

I'll post here as others may not know what we BOTH know or had never visited a coastguard station.

From the way i read it , Paul has posted mainly on Diver incidents since the beginning of the year, and what a help it has been,,,, Diver fast ascent , etc etc etc.

Yep, was YD that jumped on the band wagon.

I know who's information and posts i will trust reading first .

Hi Foggie / Andy et all

I would prefer the 'facts' from the Coastguard to be posted rather than nothing.

The 'problem' relates to the speculation that often follows which is made in good faith from concerned friends. If I would suggest anything then prehaps that 'we' should not speculate or raise questions when we know we have friends diving in an area where an incident is reported.

This Easter I dived out of Weymouth on the Saturday. I arrived on my own joined a boat, dived & returned home. A number of friends & family where aware that I was diving out of Weymouth that weekend.
After getting home I heard that Whiskey Bravo had airlifted a diver who had died. It was after 19:00 before I was aware of this. I contacted my DO & a couple of close friends from my club to say I was back safe, my family, & the divers I had spent the Friday night with, & a couple of other divers who new I was diving that weekend.
Now normally I wouldn't have bothered contacting anyone, If I hadn't come home Saturday evening I would have been in a pub 'preparing for the Sunday dive'.

What I am trying to point out is that news travels fast, if its a slow news day it will be picked up on the news service anyway.

Prehaps 'we' need to be more aware of the adverse effects of our speculation when we hear a report.
Prehaps we need to be more conscious of 'reporting in' after we have been diving, just to reassure family & friends in the even that there has been bad news reported.

Long may we get a heads up from our friendly Coastguard. Lets keep the speculation down for all our sakes.

Gareth

I have apologise privately to Foggy for any distress cuased to either him or his family. I did check with the person on the trip who I spoke to whether they wanted the report to be anonomise. I could have just put that "I have spoken to others on the trip and everyone is OK. Full report to follow when they get home"

Hindsight is 20/20. I have publicly apologised for any distress caused to anyone.

Aye, it's a shame more don't show in interest in the people who may be risking their own lives, and those that support them, coming to help us.

What on earth have you got to apologise about. You said you'd spoken to someone on the boat. Foggy banged his head, and everything was okay. Don't think any naval gazing is due on your part!

Dive safe

Well, drama over and lessons learned. I value Paul's up to minute reports as they come in and wish them to continue. Can we move on now please?
