Angry Helicopters

Anyone else read that article about the RNLI/MCA/S&R teams at the weekend?

Basically, it seems that our wonderful Government should have been buying replacement choppers, didn't and now have acquired ones that aren't up for the S&R job

Solution - contract out S&R to a private company that has the "right helos" -likely to be a private American or French company...

Wonder how much we'll have to pay for a 'ride'.

But is this not now "received wisdom". Mrs Thatcher, Britain's favourite war criminal, started the trend and Blair, Britain's least favourite war criminal, has carried on the trend.

Isn't this the "way forward" surely?

I thought that it was only me that thought privatisation was bollocks...

Government: also see Ignorance, Incompetence

Career path: usually have only gone from university to parliamentary research to constituency MP. Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Placed in charge of department they have no knowledge or experience of and changed periodically in and out of limelight to minimise scandal.

This is also true of many of the upper echelons of the civil service as well. It seems to me that the good ones are trodden on by those who like power too much.

The world needs fewer politicians and more statesmen.

Statesmen = dead politician

No, you're underestimating their skill by a long way. Most of the bloodsucking barstewards went from Uni to the bar, then to the other bar, you know that one were they train you to be a lawyer and srew over your clients big style. Once they get bored with that they move into the other chamber where they can spend more time in the bar that sells alcohol and start screwing over the general public big style. Government - don't ya just love it.
