Was you told that I was there on the sea front , when the boat got back in ?
All depends on what you mean by being blown out of proportion ?
They were told which ferry had place a concern , and rightly so .
Police were there to get personal details as instucted to do so by a MCA Official.

before anyone starts saying things to TRY and drop poeople in the shit or make matters worse, let's just sit back and see what happens , shall we .

OR

Get the owner to join YD and let him put his case across .

I've heard that this is possibly the test case the 'authoritys' have been waiting for - to finaly clamp down on (actualy stop) diving within the shipping lanes...including the 'safe' areas within the shipping lanes, which would rule out some good sites for us all!?

BUT its only a rumor as far as I know...

We need the FACTS... come on both sides, give us the info.

This could affect diving for us all diving around Dover, we need to know, rumors only fuel bad feeling!

I heard 'The incident involved a ferry'? have they got rights over the sea more than the little guys, are we not all equal when afloat? or is it just size that matters most?
or are they mindless bullies that push through whoever gets in the way... or was the 'dive boat'? being completely irrisponsible? in which case....

See - rumors rumors rumors, starts the thought processes on a to a unballanced tact straight of. Let see some facts, a ballanced argument and some clarity to the shipping lane diving rules/reccomendations/lawfull/unlawfull? at last.

Facts please.

Grouty

"TEST CASE," Who the heck told you that one ?

Please show me the SAFE AREAS in the shipping lanes as you describe, as I know there isn't any.

Whilst this case is being looked into , may I suggest you read the collision regs & reading rule 10 a few times.

Grouty

It is rumour and probably started by someone that only got half the information in the first place.

If you want the FACTS, then speak to the 2 divers concerned, that was spoken to as soon as they walked up to the top of the slipway. They will tell you exactly what was said to them ' no doubt '.

You won't get any FACTS from me, until I know / get told myself & as you have replied to this thread, then you know that myself and another MCA official was there to ' meet & greet '.

Please see above.

Also, it would be easier if you typed in FULL what you have been told .... " 'The incident involved a ferry'? " could mean a whole load of things and can be taken the wrong way ....

Grouty
NO , RUMOURS start be people NOT knowing the full facts &/or listening to other divers ALSO , not knowing the full facts or just wanting to S**tstir , which won't help matters one little bit.

I suggest, IAN , that you speak to the 2 divers involved about this incident and then ask about and seek some of the divers that attended the coastguard station last year and they will tell you what was said to them by the top surveyor/enforcement .

Anyway, happy diving.........

I hope this just doesn't go all sour like last year.

Well as you have stated you were there then you are in a prime position to advise us of what was said - that way you can dispel the rumours.

Also, it would be easier if you typed in FULL what you have been told .... " 'The incident involved a ferry'? " could mean a whole load of things and can be taken the wrong way ....

Again. If you were there to "meet and greet" than you can tell us what the ferries involvement was as your organisation is likely to be the one that has more info than divers who dive on boats out of Dover. Your comments sound like you are fishing what interested parties know, but they also allude to you knowing quite a bit.

Anyway, happy diving.........

Nigel, if you know what exactly happened, then you should have wrote it in your first post, ALL the facts that you were told ,,, not just 2 lines ,,, to start a bit of hassle not get people fishing for answers.

Yes, of course I know what went on, I was at work... Yes, I heard what was said over the radio...

If you think for one minute that i'm going to write on a public forum, what I know about it all, then i'm afraid i won't...... things got to twisted last year, which caused family problems & hassles,,,,,, AND IT WON'T AGAIN.

Nigel, thats your opinion and have every right to say so... but it does work both ways.... I can only talk to people, if they want to talk to me.
No one has tried / asked about a follow up after the last years meeting, personally i thought there would have been a few concerns, some went away happy some went away fuming....

Your comment about a turncoat/poacher/hunter is far from the truth.....you knew I sold the Taurus as I had been looking at bigger boats, but after 3 months in not finding / getting the one & berth I wanted was dragging,,, this job came up and I went for it,,,,,, and glad i did looking at the past few years with dives being blown out.

When the ferry captain called up at first, I had just got back in there after a loo break, plus i wasn't in there long anyway after as I was asked to accompany the surveyor to the slipway.

I think , no more should be put on this thread until we know how far this is going to go ,,, because the hell I don't,,,,, and you probably know more than me , from speaking to the divers concerned...... and I won't for at least 3 weeks as i'm not around.

safe diving... good viz yesterday afternoon.
