| Big Up to the Reading Dive Chamber (and Scubee) As you may have seen recently Hyperbaric Chamber and Recompression Services in Poole and London | Diver Clinic have just set up a new chamber in Reading, which is due to be commissioned in the next few days. Scubee had organized a trip along to see the facility and to receive a talk about recompression treatments and I manager to blag a place at the last minute. So a BIG thanks to Morag (scubee) and Spencer Phillips (and the other chap/director, sorry didn’t take your email and your name has gone) from the chamber. We were shown the chamber, talked though its workings and generally told all the stuff that we as divers should know about DCI and how/when to make the call to get the chopper out or call the pot when you are a bit achy. Main point to Note: 1) They are there to help if in doubt make the call 2) They are more than happy to arrange for groups to visit for talks. (not dry dives, its only a little pot) 3) They don’t just do treatments. They do HSE medicals too. Following a little chat as I was leaving the will also be doing HSE medicals for commercial divers (ie for your PADI Divemaster / instructor tickets) so no more p’ing about trying to find a doc to sign it off, or traveling to London to get it done. I am sure that the contact info to arrange visits / get medicals will be on the site soon, but if you want it in the meantime pm me and I will give you Spencer’s email address. (not posting it up here as I don’t want him getting crawled and spammed) oohhh we also got presents at the end of the talk. |

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was unfortunate, that some of the folks who had said they were coming didn't turn up, as we could have opened it up a bit more. I clombed inside the pot, which is a small one, and decided that the size of that was enough to make me add another point of conservatism to my planning It was a really informative talk, with a lot of useful information. it was good to see you again, steve - sorry for not recognising you ![]()

| ---------------------------- Original Message ---------------------------- Subject: RE: Thanks for the visit Date: Tue, May 20, 2008 12:24 pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Steve Many thanks for starting the thread, I really appreciate your help in spreading the word that the community now has a local chamber. HSE Medical pricing is to be set, but I am anticipating around £95 mark. I will give you more information on that once confirmed. Also, since we last met, we now have the necessary approvals in place to treat. As soon as we receive our certificates, which I anticipate will be tomorrow, we can treat. This is great news as it means we are ready to go for the bank holiday, so spread the word! Kind regards, Spencer Phillips |

| glad everyone enjoyed the visit. If any of you that live locally can recommend any Takeaway's that deliver close to the chamber that would be useful. typically on a 5 or 6 hour treatment we send out for food so any numbers etc ould be appreciated. Pizza, chinese, Indian, sandwich shops etc. Mmmm Pizza at 18mts. Steve
