| Hi John, I'm looking at smaller sized scrubbers too. Do you know if there are any formulae for volume v's duration? For my own "BOB", I need an hour max... I'm thinking long and thin(-ish)? I found an old cafetiere which is looking interesting... By the way, I read somewhere that you can't use bog pipe as it slowly absorbs water or something like that. Is that true? |

Christ, this is getting worse! I think you and Diiger should have your own stand at the dive show to exhibit this lot. Quote:

| AFAIK, it's roughly done on the weight of the sofnolime. 1kg should last about an hbour if it's being used efficiently (ie all of it is absorbing CO2). The P1SS will do a couple of hours maybe, but that takes bigger balls than I have. I don't need to, and have no intention of, pushing it much past an hour. |

| diggers right it goes by weight but also by the grade, if your using the smaller stuff like 1-2.MM desperation 797 you can get an extra 50%out of it,over the 2.5-MM stuff but to be honest how far would you want to push it, i use the 797.. 8/12 mesh to give me a bigger safety margin if you want some numbers behind this I'll go and have a look for you! best john routley

the problem with some plastics is they are hygroscopic some a lot more under pressure, nylon is one, i found this out after i had made my first proto type p-plug out of it,so didn't use it instead went for delrin. but about a month later i was with a friend down the pub and he was talking about his steam lorry(he builds these things from scratch and they are 9/10 scale) and he was saying he had just seized it up after it had run for 10mins the only difference with this one was he had made the pistons out of nylon, which kick in the grey stuff and i said that it was hygroscopic.. after the thing was striped down it turned out the piston had swelled up by a large amount, it was cured by re-machining them down by the amount they had swallow so they now fit loosely but gets better the longer it runs!! best regards john routley

Thanks John/Digger. So, 1Kg of stuff is going to last about an hour. How much, volume-wise, is that? Pint glass? Coke bottle? (Nothing to play with so can't measure it myself I'm afraid...) |

| John, you're a star! Just think, you'll have nice soft hands now too |

| ok 100g of sofnolime can neutralize about 25lt of co2 so if you matabalize 1lt of o2 a min, you produce about 0.8 to 1lt of co2 a min dont try this! but all being perfect 1kg of lime can kill 250lt of co2 at 1lt a min = 4hrs at rest dont take this as a guide and dont listern to me! i would not like to try these munbers out underwater!! john routley
