How much is my homebuild worth?

OK guys, quick couple of questions, largely for those of you who have seen the homebuild in its latest incarnation.

Basically it's a set of inspo lungs with a P-port in the back for a 3-cell holder, custom built ppO2 display as seen in the gallery. Drager FGT scrubber, inspo hoses on the back and Drager ray DSV and hoses on the front. Swagelok KISS valve run down the channels on the counerlungs (particularly neat job I think!) It's all cased in a lightweight SS frame as constructed by Woz, was a prototype but there's so little that I'd change to improve it I've not got him to make the final model!!!

So, I have a KISS with frontmounted lungs for low WOB, what market might there be???

So, what I'm asking is what's it worth. I think a grand is sensible for a fully functional unit with a proven track record now, and is about the cost of the sum of the parts. I bought all the bits in the same condition they're in now (expect where there's modifications made, such as the c/l) and would expect to be able to recoup the cost. Am I being unreasonable? Any suggestiont he best place to seel this sort of thing other than ebay?

I also have an atlantis scrubber with fittings to fit inspo hoses attatched, I got it for £40 and I'd expect similar money back.

Also if anyone's interested, please PM or e-mail. I'm happy to let you dive it, talk about it, or look at parts you might need.

Digs.

In this case, as you are the original manufacturer of the item, where do you stand legally on abiding by regulations?

It is an interesting poit really. You made this, to your desing and it is not only the sum of component parts. It was also brought into the market this year so in theory, perhaps, it is covered by the same laws as commercial manufacturers if you sell it.

I don't know, and you wouldn't get caught, I am sure, but what thoughts are there about this?

The same thought occcured to me. Where would you stand in the event of an incident or, god forbid, a fatality of someone who had bought your unit?

Digger and I discussed this.

The idea was to sell the unit without the DSV. Then sell the DSV.

What you do with the two purchases is up to you.

I think I can safely avoid all that by just removing a couple of essential and easily replaceable seals, or as described, the DSV.

To be honest, I don't think I'd have any problems. The sort of buyer who will buy this unit is usually fairly understanding about liability etc and I would probably know them anyhow. Plus they will sign a bit of paper saying they want it for research purposes and as a decoration for the boot of their car. It is both of these anyway mind!!!

Seriously, is there a market for homebuilds?
