Well I now have one. A D5

No doubt Dr Dunc will be along any minute to post up some flattering photos of me in my new D5. It's sat in my pile 'o kit looking menacing in a "go on you know you want to" sort of way.
I just need to add a pony of O2 and some dil and while I am at it some sort of oxyguess and I'm away.
See you at the bottom of the blue hole.
And if you see a Dr Dunc post, green it please for him being so lovely. Also ran into Rick Stanton in the pub last night but by that time had consumed about 5 pints on an empty stomach so probably made a tit of myself. They all agreed that I was completely the wrong shape for a caver.

Sorry to be so thick, but is a D5 some sort of home build Rebreather? Putting 2 + 2 together, I guess a Dr Duncan build?

sump4.com/home for more info on the D5. Some cave diving nutter has had one to 120m, apparently. Underground.

Oh cleaver idea for caves that - a sidemount RB.

Doesn't the mouthpiece* keep pulling to one side?

* There is probably a technical name for a RB mouthpiece, but what do I know.

Well, you do want to - don't you? "Life is like a box of choclolates" - is the D5 the nut or the coffee cream?

Was Switzerland blown out, or was it just a very short trip?

Not sure which chocolate it is. I had a go in the pool in it last night for 5 mins and it breathes as easy as that Azi when backmounted. I thin it might be a walnut whip- once you have broken the shell then the guts oooze out all over the place and the nut leaves an odd taste in your mouth.

Rick and John V had just been down that Titan hole that was on the news for, as they put it, a fumble. At that point I was on about pint 4 so things started to get a bit hazy.

Anyway- I think that a self contained sidemouted RB that you just clip on and off is the way to go with a twinset for bailout. Dead easy to don and doff, I can make it neutrally buoyant so it makes bugger all difference and I can dive with buddies who are immediately familiar with what I am wearing as it's just a plain old twinset. Plus (and here's the clever bit) as it's sidemounted, with a bit of careful positioning I can get the C/L at exactly the same level as my lungs so it would be hydrostatically balanced.

I just need the PPO2 monitoring. Got any spare bits kicking about?
