Smile my website

Ok. It's finished. It's taken forever. I've gone from not knowing my ftp from my elbow to techie geek (almost), but it is done. It feels like giving birth. The relief!! It's not perfect, still requires small bits of tweaking but it's here.

You techie folks, please have a look at my website, and let me know what you think. I think everything works. It looks ok on my pc, but who knows on others...?

Please be gentle with me, it's my first time! The style is obviously a matter of personal taste and I'm not expecting anyone to share mine. But ease of navigation and that sort of thing... love to hear from you.

Thanks, Yvonne.

Impressive stuff mate very good shots in there. Like the portraits in there they are very good - nice and subtle too and nice lighting.

Regarding the site - tis good and easily navigated i'll give you that.

However where is the diving section? Even some nice colour surface shots of divers

This one is the my favourite in the portraits section.

Love it

Dinger

Have a blob on me mate - wont let me have to spread the love first.

Hi Yvonne,

Nice site!

Only thing so far is the image of the young kid on the opening page. It's about 3.5mb in size. Can you reduce the size of the image as it's seems as though it's squeezed into a smaller area than the actual size of the photo, and maybe reducing the quality of the file a little to reduce the file size (MB). Hope that makes a bit of sense.

I know how to do these things but have problems explaining how to do them to others!

Ian

Site

Hi Yvonne,
Really nice site, but a very rapid 1st impression - you need to compress the pic on the home page.
I know that you are trying to sell the photgraphs, but it took a while for it to load and I'm on 1mb broadband.
You will often find that people (especially those with microvave attention spans) will move on.

Just my 0.02

Guys, thank you.

Yes, the image on front page was too large.. it was something I had at hte back of my head and forgotten to fix. Should be much better now. It's tiny now.

The diving section... well yes, there will be one in due coures. but I don't really consider my underwater stuff (apart from some of the shark pictures, to be as good as a lot of the pros out there, so it'll come a bit later.

Porg, the travel stuff.. it's only intended to be a small taster. I don't have a facility in that layout to put titles on. But if you click on the link on the travel page that says HERE, it will take you tall my travel stuff in smugmug.

Glad to see it works!

It will get a lot more tweaking over time and will be a work in progress, but it's a start.

Thank you for having a look!

Nice Site

Wish I'd known about you for my wedding paid nearly 2k for photographs and the one's on your site are much better.

As regarding the site, I like it just a similar comment about the photo res, reduce it or else you will have people downloading it and printing it out A4!

If I ever get married again I will give you a shout

Chris

I like the contrast between the photos and the grey background.
The home page image is smaller now but its a bit blocky and stretched across its horizontal. For what you are trying to achieve, ie getting across the quality of the image, I think its acceptable that you use a slightly bigger file size although 3mb is huge!

I have had a look in IE, Mozilla and Netscape and it all seems to work okay.

Not a bad effort considering you used Frontpage.

Hope the business goes well for you.

Ehm... 3mb? No.. that is the old file.. the new one is a 27k gif file. they don't come much smaller.. the distortion is on purpose... it's intended to be stretched. Is see what you mean about blocky. I'll have another tinker over the weekend.

And thanks for your wellwishes!
