Couldn't see anything explicitly detrimental to the woman in question, just Chaz questioning the whole education system and way people are not alowoed to be exposed to failure in their early, formative years. Still, that has never stopped the no-win-no-fee brigade now has it.Or maybe it's some closet Republican Lawyer wanting to make a name for himself. Lawyers. Damn insolence. Shoot them all I say, What? Regards Mark

| Yeah, if he ever had to get his senile head out of his arse maybe he would realise how far above his own mediocrity he has managed to rise. His youngest delinquent will be starting at sandhurst, qualified as thick. I know somebody who`s son was going to try for sandhurst but needed a good degree to apply if he wanted to be considered. Same scenario. If he does not like it he should stop enjoying its advantages.

err, let me get this straight....a man who had to do nothing, apart from being born, in order to become 1st in line to the throne, is complaining that other people are being encouraged to strive for a little more than what HE thinks they are capable of? I'm sorry, but for someone who got most of what they have through the fortunate happenstance of being born into the right family to complain that other people are also being told they can do well in this world is just a little hypocritical in my opinion.

| Er...no mate. He's saying that people are being encouraged to think that they can do things without any effort, rather than being encouraged to strive to put in that effort. Forget who said it, what was said makes perfect sense to me and as ammo against HRH in a tribunal, it seems pointless. And you don't need a degree to go to Sandhurst. |

that's how we get into the situation where students who fail their degrees decide to sue the university, for not giving them the qualification they thought they were owed...

People need to be encouraged to strive for higher things, but I'll agree they need to be encouraged to work for them, not just to expect to have them handed to them on a plate. My problem is that his words lose much of their impact exactly because of who said them. The statement in point - "It tells people that they can be pop stars, high court judges or brilliant TV presenters or even infinitely more competent heads of state without ever putting in the necessary work, effort or having natural ability." One day Prince Charles will be King of England, quite a lofty position, but exactly how much "necessary work, effort or natural ability" has it required of him to attain this position? He can do exactly that which he is complaining about, he can sit back, do nothing and he will still achieve this great position.
