E-mails from Hosting

Over the past few weeks I keep receiving e-mails from 'Hosting'. Attachments have been removed by Norton, all that remains is a smiley face. Anyone else had any of these ? anyone know where they come from ?

I keep getting viagra related emails from http://www.subaquadivers.co.uk/

Makes me wonder where the nasty spammer got my email address from. My money is on Handbag.net...

I get emails purporting to be from admin@mydomainname.co.uk. Which is a surprise to me, as I am the admin for that domain! My guess is that it's the same thing, a viral email trying different ways to get you to open the mail and thus propagate the infection. Stupid people fall for 'free money', horny stupid people fall for 'anna kournikova naked', they are trying lots of ideas now like 'problem with your account' to try to trap even the more discerning amongst us.

Sadly, with spammers spoofing other peoples email addresses it is impossible to know what is coming from where. Nearly every morning at work I have email warning from different ISPs telling me that messages we had sent contained viruses or couldn't be delivered etc when we had not sent the offending message in the first place.

I can see that talk of charging for sending emails may well become a reality because of spammers.

Your email address could have been filtered anywhere on the net? Have you got Spybot or equivalent software installed on your PC? You may have embedded programs filtering info back to all kinds of people?

Spybot was a freeware - I just belive what it says and delete anything it finds. As of yet I have not had to reregister with anyone due to removing the wrong thing.

I get shed loads of spam on that email account anyway.

I'm just a bit suspicous that it happens to be from a dive site. Not that I in any way think that they are responsible for it, I've had my yahoo account used as a fake email address as well.

I don't register on sites these days that don't have secure registration as it is. I just wish spammers would target their spam a bit better. I mean, do they really think I might be interested in going down on to the farm with Kirsty, or extending my penis by 2 inches???

Guys,

I'm sure you know this, but any emails you receive from any untrusted or unknown address, just delete without reading or opening the attachment.
