Once you have made the break - mental as well as physical - with the UK you will realise that for £1000 and a 40 foot container you can move anywhere in the world.
My first house move was 3000 miles, not regreted it for a minute.....well, our old house is now worth 3 times what we sold it for....but other than that.

Flew out to Amsterdam last Thursday, interview on the Friday morning, wandered round Amsterdam for the rest of the day with wife not letting me go window shopping round the corner from central station.

Being the happy positive soul that I am decided that I hadn't got the job, went for another interview on Monday morning in London. Phone rings as I meet Calski for a beer in the city, wife tells me the agency are on the phone saying the company is making me a job offer - c'mon !!

Just waiting for the offer in writing and contract information to come through then we can start making the next step to a new chapter in the life of ancl.

Handing in my notice is going to be a very interesting experience !

Congrats on the job. I lived in and around the Hague for 2 years and had a real gas. I really did not want to leave and was sad to do so. Beer excellent, public transport very good, totty superb, food enjoyable, bicycles great fun etc etc etc.

Get used to the direct way of speaking and often bloodymindedness of some the locals and you won't look back.

Where will you be working?

Congratulations on the new job.

Your missus will be thrilled once she's settled in. Worst part we found in moving from the UK is the hassle of getting the relevant paperwork but if you company sorts out a relocator for you - NO PROBLEM! The first move is the most daunting, the second is pretty much a doddle. We certainly have little desire to return to the UK and as Chris says, maybe we'll meet up with you diving in the Netherlands.

Just waiting on the job offer in writing before I hand my notice in.

Spoken to a advice line out in Amsterdam who gave me and my wife information to get us started with the move.

Spoke to an estate agent this afternoon who is going to mail some details of properties to rent, will send Mrs.ancl out in a couple of weeks to look at property whilst I work my notice.

Was going to look at renting out my house in the UK but to be honest if we come back to the UK we don't intend to come back to Northants so probably better off selling it.

Back to painting the hall-way !
