M20, getting to France and all that

SWMBO is due to go skiing tomorrow and get a ferry to the land of garlic, snails and wine. All the traffic reports are giving horror stories of delays and closures on the M20, so was wondering if anyone in that neck of the woods could give the real low-down on what's going on.
